The Dhaka Metropolitan Police have withdrawn four of its members for alleged sexual harassment of a woman.
The accused – Sub-inspector Rafiqul Islam, assistant sub-inspectors Abdul Khalek, Murad Hossain, and Constable Asaduzzaman – were posted at Rampura police station.
Acting on a tip-off, the accused policemen raided a house at Boubazar on February 29 to investigate allegations that a woman was running a prostitution ring.
The woman filed a complaint with Rampura police on March 2 against the officials, accusing them of barging into her house, harassing her mother and sister, looting valuables and sexually assaulting her.
Authorities of DMP's Motijheel division withdrew the accused on Thursday after they were found guilty in initial investigation.
Deputy Commissioner Anowar Hossain told the Dhaka Tribune that investigators had been asked to file a report within seven business days.
