Sergeant Nasir Hossen, an accused of torturing two boys in Paba upazila was reportedly suspended from his job yesterday.
Shariful Islam, officer-in-charge of Paba police station, said he had been informed about the incident.
Sources said two minors were allegedly tortured brutally tied up by ropes for at least seven hours in suspicion of theft in district`s Paba upazila on February 12.
The victims were Jahid Hassan, 15,Class 10 student of neighbouring Bagsara High School and son of Emran of Choubaria under Paba upazila and Emon Ali, 13, son of Masud Rana, but his parents are not alive. He lives with his grandfather.
The incident took place around 3pm to 1pm on the day. Of the victims, Jahid was admitted to Paba Upazila Health Complex while Emon fled their homes in panic.
Meanwhile, Imran Ali, father of Zahid, filed a case with the police station accusing 13 people including the army man.
Locals said a mobile phone set of Rakib, son of Fazlur Rahman of Choubaria, was lost in the morning. People of Fazlu picked up Emon in suspicion in the theft.
They also caught Jahid from airport area around 3pm on the day while he was going to his grandmother`s house, they added.
Locals added that the minors were tied up by ropes after confining in a room and beaten with sticks brutally by Nasir, Palash, Jamal, Razzak, Anik, and Tuhin among 10 to 12 others.
