Update : 18 Dec 2016, 04:41 PM
The suspension order came early Sunday following a meeting among NSTU Vice-Chancellor Dr M Wahiduzzaman, Proctor Mushfiqur Rahman, Abdus Salam, Hall Provost Dr Yusuf Miah and Sudharampur police station OC Anwar Hossain. The six are Abdul Hamid Bappy, fourth batch student of the Pharmacy department, Nasir Ahmed Rana and Sajjad Shihab, eighth batch students of the English department, Saiful Hoque Rampu, eighth batch student of the Food Technology and Vitamin Science department, , Jahidur Rahman Nayem, tenth batch student of the Information and Communication Engineering department, and Nasir Hossain, of the tenth batch of the Economics department. The VC confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune and said: “The duration of their suspension will be fixed later. It is unprecedented that outsiders joined the vandalism. We will also launch a case against those who took part in the vandalism.” On Saturday, two groups of BCL activists, one led by Abdul Hamid Rana and another by Sajjad Promel, locked in a clash on campus after having and sharing food among themselves, leaving 20 injured. The feast was arranged on the occasion of the Victory Day.
