2 eateries fined in Chittagong

A mobile court in a drive fined two restaurants Tk60,000 in Chittagong city’s Jamal Khan and Enayet Bazar areas for preserving food items in unhygienic ways and violating consumer rights act.

Chittagong District Administration’s Executive Magistrate Ruhul Amin also the Assistant Commissioner led the mobile court at Dawat Restaurant located in Jamal Khan area and Hotel Café Zubli located in Enayet Bazar area in the afternoon.

AC Ruhul Amin said owner of restaurant Dawat preserved the food items in dirt and unhygienic refrigerator and the mobile court fined it with Tk10,000 under Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009.

Apart from that, the court also fined Hotel Café Zubli with Tk50,000 on charge of preserving rotten foods along with blood-stained flesh and kitchen goods inside the refrigerator, he added.

Later, the court dumped the foods into the drains.
