Customs officials have detained a person in possession with eight gold bars from Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong.
The detainee is Md Parvez, 27, hailing from Fatickchhari upazila of Chittagong.
“The person landed at the airport by a flight from United Arab Emirates (UAE) around 10:20am Saturday,” said Rizvi Ahmed, assistant commissioner of Chittagong Customs.
He added that the seized gold bars were worth about Tk40 lakh.
