Police have seized as many as 30,000 pieces of yaba pills from a house at Oxygen area under Bayezid police station in the city early Thursday.
The police also seized cash money amounting to Tk6.50 lakh from their possession.
Mohammad Mohsin, officer-in-charge of Bayezid police station, said they arrested a person, his wife and his mother-in-law from a residence at Oxygen area in the city.
The arrestees were identified as Debabrata Chakrabarty alias Debu, 45, his wife Sumi Acharya, 30, and his mother-in-law Gita Rani, 70.
Debu who hailed Fatikchari upazila in Chittagong used to live with his family in a rented house in Oxygen area.
“Debu is involved with drug smuggling syndicate. He was arrested in a narcotics case earlier,” said the OC, adding that the arrestees confessed that they were involved with yaba trade in the city.
