A man has allegedly hacked his wife to death during their brawling over a trivial matter at Baitkamari village, Raomari upazila, Kurigram yesterday.
The murder took place yesterday morning and the corpse of Mariam Begum, wife of Hazrat Ali, a resident of the village, was sent to Kurigram Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Soon after the incident, police detained the alleged killer from the village.
Quoting locals police said college going daughter of Ali and Mariam remained missing for several days and the couple around 8am locked in altercation over her disappearance.
At one stage, Ali hit his wife’s neck with a machete, leaving her dead instantly.
