A man has allegedly hacked his wife to death during their brawling over family matter in Baitkamari village under Raomari upazila of Kurigram district.
The murder took place on Wednesday morning and the corpse of Mariam Begum, wife of Hazrat Ali, a resident of the village, was sent to the district hospital morgue for autopsy.
Soon after the incident, police detained the alleged killer from the village.
Police and locals said college going daughter of Ali and Mariam remained missing for several days and the couple around 8am locked in altercation over her disappearance.
At one stage, Ali hit his wife's neck with a machete, leaving her dead instantly.
Confirming the incident, Raomari police station Officer-in-Charge ABM Sajedul Islam said a case was filed over the killing.
