The police arrested three people in possession of firearms from Paharika re-fueling station premises, Akbarshah police station in the port city yesterday.
The arrested were identified as Md Selim, 20, Mosharraf Hossain, 42, and Jahirul Islam Manik, 25.
The police also seized two locally manufactured LGs, one single shooter gun and two locally-manufactured one-barrel guns from their possession.
“During primary interrogation, the trio confessed to have been involved with dealing in arms trade. They also admitted that they kept the arms in their possession to sell them off. A case was lodged against the trio under the arms act,” said Sadip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Akbarshah police station.
