Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested two alleged firearm traders with a foreign pistol and ammunition from Moharajpur area in the town early yesterday.
The arrested were Selim Hossain, 25, and Somel Ali, 28.
On a tip-off, a team of the elite forces carried out a drive in the area under Sadar upazila of the town around 1.30 am and arrested them with a pistol, two magazines and a bullet.
Quoting the confessional statement the sources said the arrested were professional firearms businessmen.
A case was recorded with the police station concerned in this connection.
The arrested were handed over to police with the seized firearm and ammunition.
