A man has allegedly hacked his wife and mother-in-law to death in the district's Sonargaon upazila.
The deceased are Lovely Akhter, 25, and her mother Rashida Begum, 45.
The police have arrested Lovely's husband Koushar, 30, for his alleged involvement with the killings, Additional Police Super Mokhlesur Rahman said.
He said: “In primary interrogation, Koushar confessed his involvement with the murders.”
Witnesses said Koushar on Friday night locked in an altercation with his wife and mother-in-law over family matters.
At one stage of quarrel, he hacked the woman and her mother to death around 8pm.
Later, locals captured Koushar from the spot and handed him over to the police.
