A gang of miscreants hurled a crude bomb on a running picnic bus of Chittagong Government College in Chittagong city’s Rahattarpul area yesterday morning.
However, none was injured as the crude bomb was set off outside of the bus, said police.
Officer-in-Charge of Bakalia police station Abul Mansur said riding on a motorbike a gang of miscreants had hurled a crude bomb targeting a running bus of Political Science Department of Chittagong College in Rahattarpule area of Bakalia while three picnic buses packed with students were going to Bandarban for educational excursion.
A crude bomb went off with a big bang outside of the bus while the buses were crossing the Lohar Bridge area breaking the glasses of a bus window, said the OC.
OC Mansur said later the buses crossed the Shah Amanat Bridge under police escort following the bomb attack while police were trying to find out the culprits.
After the incident Chittagong metropolitan unit Chhatra League men protested the bomb attack and blamed Chittagong College unit Shibir men for the attack. They said Shibir men carried out the attack to create an unstable situation in the district.
