RAB arrests three counterfeiters in Dhaka

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have detained three currency counterfeiters from Bashabo in Dhaka. The arrestees are Sayed Shariyer Jiyad, 19, Rasel Mollah, 21, and Yasin Arafat Nijhu, 18. A total of Tk105,000 of counterfeit money was seized by the RAB from their possession on Monday night. RAB's Legal and Media Wing Assistant Director Mizanur Rahman told the Dhaka Tribune that acting on a tip-off around 9:30pm police conducted a special drive in Sabujbagh Basabo area and arrested them. In primary interrogation, one of the arrestee said their gang leader is Allauddin, 30 and they were counterfeiting money ahead of Eid, he added. A case will be filed at Sabujbagh police station in this connection, the official said.
