Police have arrested a teenager on charge of murdering a caption of a lighter vassal who was killed in January 15 dismembering into ten pieces.
The arrestee was identified as Ariful Islam, 19, son of late Khokon Howladar, hailing from Pirojpur district, said police sources.
Police also recovered two mobile phone of the victim, Mohammed Mohsin, 51, hailing from Laxmipur from Ariful and a saw which was used in killing mission.
“Ariful is worker of a readymade garment (RMG) at EPZ area while he had strangled Mohsin at his house at Kolshi Dighir Par of EPZ area in the city over an extra-marital affair with Arif’s mother Nazma and later dumped the dismembered parts of Mohsin in Karnaphuli River and Halishahar area” told Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP)’s Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operation) Debdas Bhattachariya at a press conference at CMP Headquarters.
Additional Commissioner Debdas said Mohammed Mohsin, a resident of Dhaka, used to work at oil tanker named “MV Sagor Konna” while he had developed an affair with Ariful’s mother Nazma Begum, who is a RMG worker and used to stay her house while anchoring the vassal in Chittagong.
“Nazma’s husband had died before five to six year ago while Ariful could not accept illegal relation between his mother and Mohsin”, said police official Debdas.
At the press conference Debdas said during primary interrogation Arif said Mohsin went to Nazma’s house in January 15 while Nazma sent him to outside asking some task while Arif found them in objectionable situation later triggering angriness.
At the same day evening, Arif had strangled Mohsin while he was asleep in absence of Nazma and hide the body under their bed, added police official Debdas.
CMP’s Additional Commissioner said later following day, Arif had brought a saw from market and dismembered the body of Mohsin into ten pieces in the house in cool head. He had dumped a part at Halishahar area while the rest of parts were dumped in Karnaphuli River in several phases.
Failing to trace Mohsin, his brother had filed a complaint with EPZ police station on January 15 while police later detained Nazma, said police.
Meanwhile, Halishahar police had recovered a part of Mohsin’s body before Halishahar Physical Education College in January 18 and filed another case accusing unnamed persons.
“Despite arresting the mother, Arif behaved normal creating suspicion in police while later he went into hiding in Pirojpur district”, said EPZ police station Officer-in- Charge (OC) Abul Kalam.
Later, police tactfully traced him and arrested Friday midnight, said the OC.
Police were investigatiing the matter, the OC said.
