The members of Rapid Action Battalion have rescued a 2-day-old newborn baby from a house in the capital's Banani area while two gangs were on deal to sell it.
The RAB 3 members also detained four persons, including two women, from the place for their alleged involvement in stealing and selling the baby.
The detainees are members of a gang that steals babies from different hospitals and sells them from that house located in Banani's Chairmanbari area, said RAB 3 Operation Officer Rabiul Karim.
The RAB official said: “Acting on a tip-off, we conducted the raid on Friday afternoon. In initial inquiry, we found that the baby was being sold at Tk100, 000.”
Details regarding the matter could not be known till filing the report at 8:30pm.
