A man yesterday committed suicide after killing his minor daughter at Boroichala village under Bhaluka upazila of the district of Mymensingh.
The deceased were identified as rickshaw puller Jamil Hossain, 40, a resident of Boroichala village of the upazila and his daughter Rabeya Begum. Officer-in-charge of Bhaluka police station Mamun-or-Rashid said rickshaw puller Jamil might have committed suicide and killed his daughter to get rid of poverty.
Jamil first stabbed his one and half year old daughter to death and then stabbed himself with the same knife at about 6:30am, the OC added.
Jamil succumbed to his injuries when neighbouring people were taking him to Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex. Jamil left his two sons - Shakhawat Hossain, 12, and Shah Poran, the OC said.
