The wife of a Maasranga Television journalist was hacked to death at home in Gopalganj early yesterday. Zakia Begum, wife of Morshedayan Nishan, was attacked by a gang of masked robbers who broke into the house in Bedgram, said the husband.
But police suspected that the 30-year-old, daughter of Jalal Uddin of Gopalganj town, had been killed over family rows. Zakia’s family also claimed that it was a premeditated act of killing.
Jalal Uddin claimed that his daughter had faced pressure over the past few months to pay dowry. “This led to a dispute and my daughter was killed for that.”
