Police yesterday arrested four individuals from the port city’s Akbar Shah and Chandgaon area for carrying arms and ammo.
The arrestees are Md Selim, 40, alias Khokon, Abul Kashem, 28, Jamal, 35, and Abul Kalam, 32, said police sources. Of them, Selim was arrested from Chandgaon while the rest were held from Akbar Shah area.
Chandgaon police station Officer-in-Charge Abu Mohammed Shahjahan Kabir said: “Police arrested Selim with a shotgun when they checked a Chittagong city-bound bus at Kaptai Raastar Matha police check post around 12:30pm. The bus was coming from Rangunia upazila.”
During initial interrogation, Selim said he was going to sell the gun in Barisal, said the OC adding that a case was filed in this connection.
In the other incident, Akbar Shah police arrested the three persons from Shapla Residential area carrying a point 32 bore foreign pistol, a shot gun and two rounds of bullets.
Police filed an arms case in this connection with Akbar Shah police station.
