A six-year-old girl was hospitalised after she was raped allegedly by the caretaker of an automobile workshop in the capital’s Badda area yesterday morning.
Police detained the accused Yunus Matubbar, yesterday, police sources said.
Quoting the victim’s parents, Badda police station OC Abdul Jalil said the girl was playing in front of her house yesterday morning when Yunus, whose workshop is in the same neighbourhood, lured her into the workshop and sexually assaulted her.
When the victim went home later, her parents saw she was bleeding and, learning from her about what had happened, they informed the locals, who detained Yunus and handed him over to police, the OC said.
The victim was sent to the One-Stop Crisis Centre at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
OCC Coordinator Dr Bilkis Begum told the Dhaka Tribune that the child had been raped and was currently undergoing treatment.
Jalil said a forensic test will be conducted today to verify the allegation.
