Customs officials have seized 60 gold bars weighing around 6 kilograms from the underneath of a seat of a flight at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Airport Customs Reyadul Islam told the Dhaka Tribune that the gold was found in a pipe under the seat of a Biman Bangladesh Airlines plane coming from Doha around 1:15pm on Tuesday.
Biman staffs might be involved with the smuggling as it is difficult for a passenger to hide the gold in a pipe under the seat belt, the official added.
No arrest was made yet in this connection, he continued.
