Beauty Akhter, who allegedly threw a newborn baby out of the fourth floor of a building, has now undergoing treatment at One Stop Crisis Centre of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Bilkis Begum, co-ordinator of the hospital, told the Dhaka Tribune on Tuesday that Beauty’s forensic test has been completed.
“She is mentally and physically distorted. We will counsel her.”
Beauty's DNA test will also be done to identify her age and the identity of the newborn baby, she said, adding that several tests of Beauty will also be accomplished.
Moreover, the condition of the newborn baby, who is undergoing treatment at Ad-din Hospital in Moghbazar, is stable, said Abu Syeed Mollah, the manager of the hospital.
“An MRI scan can be done as the newborn has a fracture of the newborn in its left leg,” he added.
When contacted, Ramna OC Mashiur Rahman told the Dhaka Tribune: “We will take legal action over Monday’s incident after the recovery of mother and her newborn baby as both are under treatment in the hospitals.”
A newborn baby was allegedly been thrown out from the 4th floor of an apartment building in the capital's Bailey Road area on Monday.
Surprisingly, the boy survived the incident, said SI Aminul Islam of Ramna police station.
Beauty Akhter was working as a domestic help at the flat.
Beauty’s employer Firoza Begum earlier told the Dhaka Tribune: “She was working at my house since she was a child. She left the job last year and went to her village home in Sirajganj district. She returned a few months ago and we appointed her again.
“We did not know that she was pregnant. Even we failed to notice it as her body never showed any sign of pregnancy.”
During primary investigation, Beauty admitted that she threw her baby out from the flat, said the SI.
