2 PCJSS activists killed in Rangamati; UPDF blamed

Update : 14 Dec 2016, 02:36 PM
The incident took place early Wednesday. The PCJSS blamed United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) for killings of Nayon Joyati Chakma, 32, and Juddho Chandra Chakma, 41, residents of the area. On the contrary, the UPDF central leader Michael Chakma denied the claim, saying: “The incident could have happened as sequel to the PCJSS's internal conflict.” PCJSS Baghaichhari upazila unit President Suresh Kanthi Chakma said: “Some armed UPDF miscreants have killed our two activists in their residences at dead hours. They have carried out the killings because of our calls to the government to impose a ban on their activities.” Rangamati Superintendent of Police Sayed Tariqul Hasan said they heard of the incident, and were trying to identify the killers. The UPDF is against the 1997 Chittagong Hill Tracks Peace Accord.
