One killed in Kushtia ‘gunfight’

The deceased has been identified as Abdus Salam, 40. Four other robber suspects, who sustained bullet injuries, have also been arrested after the early Monday skirmish at Baromile area. RAB 12 Commander Mosaddek Ibne Mujib said they raided the area after a tip-off. “The robbers opened fire as soon as a RAB team approached the spot,” he said. Five suspected robbers were injured in the ensuing gunfight. The men were taken to Kushtia Hospital where doctors pronounced one of them dead, Kushtia's Assistant Police Superintendent Jahangir Alam said. RAB recovered two small arms, bullets and sharp weapons after the 'gunfight'. ASP Jahangir said two cases had been filed with Bheramara police over the incident.
