Detective Branch (DB) of police in a drive arrested a fake dollar trader with huge counterfeit notes worth about US $ 1000 from a residential hotel at city’s Reazuddin Bazar area yesterday.
The arrested was Md Shahed, 40, son of late Mohibullah, hailed from Ramgoti upazila of Lakshmipur district, said a press release of DB.
The press statement read that Shahed was picked up from a residential Hotel at Reazuddin Bazar while he was waiting to exchange the fake dollars.
The law enforcers seized 100 fake notes of US dollar denomination of US $ 10,000.
The arrested confessed that he had been running business of fake dollars and notes in the port city for long in guise of clothes trader.
A case was lodged in this connection.
