1 killed in gunfight with RAB in Tangail

A suspected ringleader of a robbers’ gang was killed in a gunfight with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Magur Ata area of Tangail Sadar upazila in the early hours of yesterday.

Deceased Mostafa was also accused in several cases including, robbery.

Md Mohiuddin Faruki, additional police super and also commander of Crime Prevention Company of RAB 12 told the Dhaka Tribune that they had got information that a gang of robbers was taking preparation to commit robbery in Magur Ata area around 4am, the members of the elite forces conducted a drive in the area to nab the bandits.

But sensing the presence of the elite force members, the robbers opened fire at them, prompting them to fire back, triggering a gunfight. The gunfight left Mostafa, son of Tofil Uddin of Modhupur upazila in the district, dead on the spot. The law enforcers also detained 10 robbers along with one foreign pistol, one magazine, three firearms, four locally made sharp weapons and different robbery equipments.

Five sustain bullet injuries in Lakshmipur gunfight

A member of robbers gang and four policemen were injured in a gun battle that took place in Jafarpur area in the morning. Of the injured, robber Mehraj Uddin and police constables – Mainuddin, Bahar Uddin and Abdul Momin were taken to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital in critical state.
