A mobile court yesterday fined a private hospital with Tk8.10 lakh for running Intensive Care Unit (ICU) without approval, operating lab with unqualified staff and selling date-expired medicines.
Executive Magistrate of Rapid Action Battalion Sarwar Alam led the mobile court with the help of the elite force in the city. While talking to the reporters, Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam said Metropolitan Hospital was fined with Tk8.10 lakh on different charges.
“The technician of the errant private hospital lacked the educational qualification for running the pathological lab. Besides, a good number of date-expired medicines were seized from the drugstore of the hospital. The hospital did not obtain any approval for running Intensive Care Unit,” the magistrate added.
