A mobile court has fined Tk24 lakh to two edible oil companies for not mixing vitamin A and D with the soyabean oil.
The companies are Elius Brothers (brand name Dada) and City Group (brand name Teer).
RAB Headquarters Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam conducted the mobile court drive with the help of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) at North Patenga area in the city on Saturday.
‘Dada’ was fined Tk20 lakh while ‘Teer’ Tk4 lakh.
The government made it compulsory to mix Vitamin A and Vitamin D in certain amount with edible oil. However, some errant companies were violating the rules.
