A beheaded body of a youth was recovered by police yesterday from a suitcase on a rickshaw in Ahmedbagh area of the capital’s Sabujbagh.
The dead was identified as Ibrahim Khalil alias Suman, 23, son of Abdul Hai Patwari from Faridganj upazila of Chandpur, police said.
Officer-in-Charge of Sabujbagh police station Mostafizur Rahman said primary information suggested that the body was being moved using the suitcase after murder.
The OC said local people, in the morning, saw blood dripping out from the suitcase which a rickshawpuller was carrying on his rickshaw. They then stopped him and called the police.
Sabujbagh police Sub-Inspector Solaiman Gazi said the rickshawpuller Oliullah, 35, was detained in this connection and after interrogating him, the severed head of the youth was recovered from his house in Wahab Colony of Bashabo in the city.
When asked, the SI said the reason behind the killing could not be confirmed yet but it is being suspected that the murder was pre-planned. However, police did not confirm if the murder was committed by the rickshawpuller.
Police said Oliullah in interrogation admitted that Suman was at his house on Wednesday night.
