Update : 22 Dec 2015, 10:36 AM

Police have detained 23 students from the dormitories of Dhaka College in the city.

They were held in a raid on Monday night.

Of the detainees, 10 are outsiders while the rest 13 students of the college could not show their identity cards.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Ramna zone) Jasim Uddin told the Dhaka Tribune that the detainees were kept at Ramna police station.

"Their parents have been informed and asked to get them released on bond," he added.

He said the raid was conducted following the clash between the college students and Hawkers Market traders.

"However, none of the students who were seen in the CCTV footage during the clash could not be detained," said the official.

At least seven people were injured as a section of Dhaka College students, linked to ruling party’s student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League, locked into the clash with the shopkeepers of Dhanmondi Hawkers Market on Thursday.

A case was filed against 150 to 200 unidentified people over the clash on Friday.
