Police in a drive have busted a fake medicine manufacturing factory and arrested five persons including a physician couple in the city’s Pahartali area on Sunday.
The two arrested doctors are Dr AHM Nojibul Haque and his wife Dr Jannatul Mawa while the identity of the other arrestees could not be known immediately, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ranjit Kumar Barua of Pahartali police station.
The physician couple is working at the Mostafa Hakim Memon Hospital run by Chittagong City Corporation (CCC), said the OC.
“Acting on a secret information, police raided the fake medicine factory named Lexsicol Pharmaceuticals Limited at 3pm at Musnipara area of Uttar Kattali under Pahatrali police station and arrested the five including two doctors,” said OC Ranjit.
The OC said huge amount of fake medicine and raw materials were also recovered during the drives.
A case was filed under Special Power Act with Pahartali police station, said the police official.
