A woman, who suffered burn injuries in her face and the upper part of her body after her husband poured boiled water on her, succumbed to injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital early yesterday.
Sara Ahkter, 25, died around 4am, said Partha Shankar Paul, resident surgeon at the hospital’s burn unit.
Sara, with 20% burn, was admitted to the burn unit on Sunday after her husband Yusuf Mohan, 35, poured hot water on her over an altercation.
Her family members said Yusuf would often get into altercations with his wife as he suspected that she had a love affair with the house owner.
The couple live in a rented house in the capital’s Hazaribagh area.
Hazaribagh police station Officer-in-Charge Mir Alimuzzaman told the Dhaka Tribune a case had been filed in this connection.
“Yusuf could not be arrested as he fled the scene immediately.”
According to the case statement, Yusuf is a drug addict and would often torture Sara on suspicion that she had developed an affair with the landlord.
