Harassment and torture by school teacher has reportedly led to the suicide of a female student at Gonobiddya High School in the city.
The deceased was Habiba Akter Sraboni, 15, a student of Class IX at the school and daughter of Masudar Habibullah in Falpatti area.
According to family sources, Sraboni reached home yesterday afternoon from school and complained of inhuman torture by her teacher Kamrul Hasan Munna.
Later, after praying Zohor prayers, she went to her room and locked it from inside.
SI Hamidur Rahman said on information, police recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue.
When contacted, Tofazzel Hossain Mukul, president to the governing body of the school, said: “Action will be taken in this regard after investigation.”
