A Feni court has taken cognisance of the charges in the sensational Fulgazi upazila chairman Ekramul Haque Ekram murder case.
A court of Feni Sessions Judge Dewan Md Shafi Ullah received the charge sheet on Tuesday in presence of all 43 accused in the case and it fixed January 11, 2016 for hearing on it.
Besides, its main accused BNP leader Mahatab Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury Minar, who was undergoing treatment in a hospital in the capital under police custody, was shown present in the court.
Earlier on October 13, Feni Chief Judicial Magistrate Md Mashiur Rahman Khan ordered to transfer the case to the sessions court for trial.
Confirming the new move local Public Prosecutor Hafez Ahmed said the case’s charge framing might take place on the next date.
Ekram, who was also the president of Fulgazi upazila Awami League, was shot and burned alive in his car in broad daylight in Feni town on May 20, last year.
Following the incident, the police have arrested the accused including Jihad Chowdhury, an alleged mastermind and joint secretary of Fulgazi upazila unit Awami League, and BNP leader Minar, the alleged financier.
