Muggers have snatched Tk11 lakh after shooting a youth in his leg in the capital’s Badda.
The victim was identified as Shariar Shikder Shahin, 25, son of Abdus Salam Sikder, also a post graduate student of accounting department at Patuakhali Government College.
Shahin's uncle-in-law Mustafizur Rahman said Shahin came from Patuakhali on Wednesday to buy a piece of land in the area. He stayed at his father-in-law Jalal Uddin's residence in East Badda.
He was on his way to land owner's house with Tk11 lakh in the area around 5pm to register the land.
He was accompanied by his mother-in-law Rashida Begum and two others -Jalal and Mostafizur.
All of a sudden a gang of muggers came and one of them shot on Shahin's right leg. They snatched the bag he carried and fled the scene immediately.
Shahin was rushed to a local hospital and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Officer-in-Charge of Badda police station Abdul Jalil told the Dhaka Tribune that the police were trying to arrest the culprits.
