Detectives police yesterday said they had arrested 11 members of banned outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from the capital.
A team of DB police in a drive arrested them from Uttara area around 8:20pm on Monday.
Police recovered Jihadi Books, three machetes, knives and different types of local arms from their possession.
As DB Inspector Abdur Razzak, also the investigation officer, produced them before a Dhaka court yesterday evening Metropolitan Magistrate Alamgir Kabir granted a two-day remand for each of them.
The eleven arrestees are Arif Ibne Khayer, Babu Munshi alias Masud Rana, Khorshed Alam, Omar Faruq, Alhaz Miah, Helal Uddin, Abdul Bashed, Md Sujat, Ajhar Ali, Md Forhad Hossain, and Mizanur Rahman.
Joint Commissioner of Detective Branch (DB) of police Monirul Islam said the eleven JMB men gathered in Uttara area to carry out subversive activities.
They planned to loot a bank and NGO office in Chouddogram of Comilla. They also had plans to launch attacks on important establishments and kill VIPs, said the joint commissioner.
