Update : 05 Nov 2015, 08:16 PM

Police yesterday arrested two people, including a student of Dhaka University (DU), during the written test of E unit on Chittagong University (CU) campus.

The arrestees were Kamrul Islam, 25, son of late Sayem Uddin of Kishoreganj and also student of Institute of Education and Research (IER) of the DU and Imran Hossain, 20, son of Iqbal Hossain, a resident of Nandirhat Hathazari and also a first year student of Anthropology of the CU, said police.

Four smart watches and cell phones were seized from their possession, said AKM Hafiz Akhtar, superintendent of police, Chittagong.

Kamrul is a member of a forgery gang who sends answer of MCQ question during admission tests, including university admission and other government recruitment tests, through SMS from outside of examination halls, said AKM Hafiz Akhtar at a press conference at his office in evening.

Although Imran is a student of anthropology department, he appeared at E unit admission test.  He was then trying to take picture of question paper to sent it to Kamrul.

CU Proctor Ali Azgar Chowdhury said suspecting Imran’s movement, on-duty invigilators nabbed him first during the test and later handed over him to the police.

Later, a team of police led by Assistant Superintendent of Police  Mohiuddowla Reza arrested Kamrul from eateries near the Shamsunnahar dormitory on the campus and recovered the smart phones.

Police were verifying the DU student’s identity and trying to arrest other members of the gang.

SP AKM Hafiz said the same groups have done the forgery at the recent recruitment test of Bangladesh Railway and pre-primary teachers’ recruitment examinations.
