A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a quack in Dhaka’s Lalbagh yesterday.
Relatives said the girl had been feeling a pain in her stomach for several days. Recently she had come to her aunt’s house for treatment.
The aunt took her to a local quack around 4pm and an assistant told the aunt to wait outside while the girl undergoes treatment inside.
Around 30 minutes later, the aunt got suspicious and knocked on the closed door. After knocking for some time, the assistant opened the door and she found that her niece had been raped.
As she started screaming for help, the quack and his assistant fled the scene before anyone arrived. The girl was immediately taken to the one stop crisis centre at the Dhaka Medical College hospital around 6pm.
