The Detective Branch (DB) of Police early yesterday arrested four persons in separate drives from the capital’s Shyampur and Vatara areas and recovered firearms and drugs from their possession.
Among the arrestees, Zahirul Islam and M Manik Miah, who were reportedly involved with an inter-district illegal arms trading gang, were arrested from Shyampur. The DB team also recovered four foreign pistols, eight magazines and four bullets from their possession, according to a press release issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
In a separate drive, another team of DB police arrested M Mamun Hossain and M Sahed Ali, who were reportedly involved with drug trading. The DB team recovered 100 puriya heroin from their possession and in primary interrogation the arrestees confessed of their involvement with drug trading.
The DMP media release said legal actions have been taken regarding both the incidents.
