Police have arrested a youth along with ten pieces of gold bars worth of Tk45 lakh from Mirsarai upazila in Chittagong district.
The arrestee was Jabed Ahmed Nayon, 22, hailing from Sylhet, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) Imtiaz Md Ahsanul Kader of Mirsarai police station.
Following a tipped-off, police arrested the youth along with the 10 gold bars worth of Tk45 lakh from a Sylhet-bound bus at Gulistan Petrol Pump Station on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway at around 3:30am on Monday, said the OC.
During primary investigation, the youth told police he had been peddling the gold since long and involved with the illegal gold business, said the OC. A case was lodged in this connection.
