Update : 15 Oct 2015, 11:19 AM

Kamrul Islam, the prime accused in Samiul Alam Rajon murder case, is now being taken to Sylhet after his extradition, said AIG (Media) Nazrul Islam to Bangla Tribune Thursday afternoon.

The AIG said Kamrul would be produced before the Sylhet court.

A three-member team of police reached Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka with Kamrul from Saudi Arabia around 3pm on Thursday.

Earlier on Monday, the team, headed by Mahbubul Karim, additional superintendent of police (police headquarters), flew for the KSA from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

On July 8, 13-year-old boy Samiul Alam Rajon was beaten to death in Sylhet’s Kumargaon by some men who falsely accused him of stealing a rickshaw van.

One of the killers recorded the incident on mobile phone and later uploaded on Facebook.

The video soon spread on social media platforms, triggering massive outrage among the public.

The 28-minute video shows the victim tied to a pole in front of a workshop in the still-closed Sultan Ali Market, beside the Dhaka-Sunamganj road.

Later, a case was registered in this connection against 13 people, including Kamrul, who is a Saudi immigrant.

Kamrul was detained by some Bangladeshis in Saudi Arabia and handed over him to the local police. Meanwhile, a district court has already accepted charges against the accused and issued arrest warrants against the fugitives in the lawsuit.
