Police have rescued a man after about eight hours into abduction from Mujibnagar area of Meherpur district early yesterday.
The victim is Ananda Hawlader, 40, son of Raj Kumar Hawlader, from Kaliabakri village in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga district. He is cashier of Moragang Beel Cooperatives Society.
Damurhuda police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Liakat Hossain said a gang of about 12 miscreants abducted Ananda Hawlader from his home around 8pm on Tuesday at gun point and three hours later they demanded a ransom of Tk10 lakh from the family members.
Being informed, police started drives in the night and the abductors left the victim in nearby Mujibnagar area of Meherpur district around 3:40am in the face of police move, the OC continued.
