A stalker has stabbed a schoolgirl to death in the district's Kaliakoir upazila Tuesday after she rejected his proposal of love.
The deceased Kabita das, 14, was a tenth grader in Bijay Saranee High School in the area.
Following the incident, locals captured the killer, Bikram Chandra Das, and handed him over to the police.
According to locals, Bikram is a BBA student of Savar Gana Biswabidyalaya.
OC Rafiqul Islam of Kaliakoir police station said Bikram stabbed Kabita outside her school ground while she was returning home.
Her classmates rushed her to Kaliakoir Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctors declared her dead.
