An assistant public prosecutor (APP) of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal 1 has received death threat over phone.
Tanzim Al Misbah filed a general diary with Bogra sadar police station on Saturday, a day after he received the call.
According to the GD, one Benjir Ahmed Benjir, who identified himself as the president of Bogra Azizul Haque College unit Chhatra Leauge, threatened to abduct and kill Tanzim.
Tanzim, also the social welfare secretary of Bogra Bar Association, told the Dhaka Tribune that Benjir also used bad language during the conversation.
Tanzim, also the Social Welfare Secretary of Awami Ainjibi Parishad, a pro-ruling party lawyers' association at Bogra court, further said: “Benjir also threatened to cut my legs off.
“However, I am not clear why he gave me the threats.”
But the lawyer suspected that his professional role might go against a BCL faction's interest as he had previously stood for a member of another faction.
He also said that he had learned that Benjir is wanted in several cases, including a case filed under the explosives act.
