The headmaster of Derahar High School at Nandigram, Bogra has been suspended for sexually harassing a class IX student of the same institution.
The school's managing committee came up with the decision on Thursday in the face of day-long agitation by locals.
Later, the victim's uncle filed a case against the accused, Zahirul Haque, with Nandigram police.
Police said that Zahirul had persistently been making calls to exchange illicit talks and also wanted to get intimate in exchange for money and other privileges including tempering result in her favour.
Local people protested the harassment on the school premise around 11am and demanded his resignation.
Later the managing committee announced his suspension.
OC Shamim Iqbal of the police station said that Zahirul had been on the run.
