A court in Chittagong has put a person who was arrested in connection with Friday’s gruesome double murder inside a shrine, in two-day remand.
The court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Abdul Kader granted the remand of Abdul Mannan after he was produced before his court at around 3:30pm Saturday.
Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP)’s Additional Commissioner (prosecution) Kazi Muttaki Minan told this to the Dhaka Tribune.
Police sought ten-day remand prayer while the court granted two-day remand for interrogating the person in the case, added the police official.
Earlier, police arrested Abdul Mannan alias Mona, 37, the caretaker of one Md Azam, a leader of Sechchasebak Dal of Bayezid area from the shrine place of Banglabazar area of Bayezid, said Sub-Inspector Sayed Faruk Ahmed of Bayezid police station.
A pir (religious preacher) Rahmat Ullah alias Nud Fakir and his assistant Abdul Kader were slaughtered to death by an unidentified assailant inside a shrine during Jumma prayer on Friday.
Completing the killing mission, the assailant fled the spot by blasting crude bomb which injured a person also, said police.
Following the double murder, Kader’s younger brother Nurul Islam filed a murder case accusing unnamed persons with Bayezid police station on Friday night, said SI Faruk also the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case.
