The charge sheet in Rakib murder case was filed with a Khulna court yesterday, with the police charging three people for killing the 12-year-old boy by pumping air into his stomach.
Md Sharif, his mother Beauty Begum and Mintu Miah have been named as the accused. Investigation Officer Kazi Mostaque Ahmed, also a sub-inspector at Khulna Sadar police station, submitted the charge sheet with the Khulna Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
Sanjay Kumar Das, the court’s GRO, said the charge sheet will be presented before Metropolitan Magistrate Faruk Iqbal who will hold the next hearing of the case on September 6.
Meanwhile, Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner Nibash Chandra Majhi said 40 people have been named as witnesses under the charge sheet. Talking to reporters at his office yesterday, he said the trial will start soon as all of the accused were already behind bars. He added that efforts would also be on to send the case to a speedy trial tribunal.
Investigation Officer Mostaque said the police have been careful to not leave any loopholes in their case.
On August 3, Md Rakibul Islam died after the killers – his former employers – pumped air through his rectum.
