A school girl has been tortured brutally as her cheek and tendons were cut after refusing a love offer by a local youth at Pathantek village of Bormi union under Sreepur upazila in the district.
The accused youth is Suzon Miah, 20, son of Abdul Mazid of neighboring Beldia village.
The victim is Laboni Akter, 13, daughter of Ripon Miah, a CNG driver of the area. She is a student of class seven of Bormi Ideal School.
Victim’s mother Rokeya Begum said Suzon Miah, 20, son of Abdul Mazid of neighboring Beldia village has been offering to Laboni for love affairs, but she did not agree.
On Saturday night, Laboni’s father went out to drive CNG auto rickshaw and mother went to Dhaka Medical College Hospital to see a patient. When Laboni went to sleep at her room the night, Suzon entered her room by breaking the door and cut her cheek and tendons of a hand with sharp weapons.
While Laboni tried to protect him, Suzon beat her indiscriminately and left the spot quickly. After the scream of Laboni, neighbors rushed to her home and rescued her.
She was rushed to Sreepur upazila health complex and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Officer- in- charge of Sreepur model police station Asaduzzaman said, police visited the spot on information.
We are trying to arrest Suzon, he added.
