A four-year-old boy has received bullet injuries in a “gunfight” between two rival groups at Shubhopur in Comilla.
Hridoy is the son of rickshaw puller Mofiz Mia of Shubhopur area. He is being treated at Comilla Medical College Hospital.
Locals said there was a longstanding conflict between Hasib and Anwar groups over extortion and establishing supremacy in criminal activities in the area.
Following the matter, their supporters locked into a clash around 9am Sunday.
At a stage, Hasib group's member Nizam opened fire at Anwar that triggered a “gunfight” between the groups.
They said Hridoy sustained bullet wounds while three others got injured in the incident.
Hospital's emergency department Ward Master Dulal Chandra Sutrodhor said: “He received bullet injuries in the hand and stomach.”
Kotwali Model police station OC Khorshed Alam said: “I have heard about the incident but have not got the details yet.”
