A man has allegedly killed his wife at Barchala village in Kapasia upazila of Gazipur district.
The victim is Nazma Begum, 19, daughter of Nazim Uddin, of the same village.
Nazma, who took part in this year’s HSC examination, withdrew her stipend money of Tk2,500 from her college on Wednesday, said Nazim Uddin.
“On return to home, her husband, Atabuddin, 30, son of late Abdul Hakim of the same village, wanted the money but she refused to give it.”
Following altercation and dispute over the matter, Nazma was strangulated to death by her husband between 9pm and 10pm on Wednesday night, said Nazim.
Later, her body was found hanged on a mango tree nearby the house. On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body and sent it to Shahed Tazuddin Medical College Hospital in Gazipur for autopsy, he added.
Atabuddin went into hiding immediate after the incident.
After making love affairs, Nazma got married with Atabuddin only one and half months ago.
Kapasia police station SI Azharul Islam confirmed the death incident to the Dhaka Tribune.
However, the police official said: “Whether it is murder or suicidal incident will be confirmed after post mortem.”
