Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB 3) have arrested an alleged smuggler and seized 24 gold bars at Bhuidoba Sautalpara area under Panchbibi upazila of the district.
The arrested was Mamunur Rashid, 35, son of Sahiruddin of South Basudevpur village under Hakimpur upazila in Dinajpur district, reports BSS.
On a tip-off, a BGB team led by Habilder Sohel conducted a drive in the area on Wednesday morning and arrested Mamunur.
They recovered the gold bars worth over Tk one crore after searching his motorcycle toolbox, BGB sources said.
